Of the Month Club

Via the Senselist article “70 Things You Can Get by Monthly Subscription”, I ultimately found myself staring at the Of The Month Clubs page on iGourmet.com. After signing up for things like coffee or cheese, you get a new “featured product” each month delivered directly to your front door.

This concept isn’t exactly new (book of the month clubs have been around for who knows how long and I’ve gifted some wine subscriptions before) but what struck me when looking at the site was that it sounds like a really cool way to try new foods from all over the world.

My next thought was that it would be even cooler to take the same concept of trying new things and relating it to your local neighborhood. So you get a new local product each month, highlighting the farms in your area or the current seasonal vegetable from the city garden down the street. Sounds like a great way to stimulate interest in local producers while providing them with another revenue stream.
