The Thin Pill
While on a plane, I picked up my boyfriend’s copy of Wired which had, that month a really disturbing article on obesity. The fact is that nowadays, the problem of obesity and a less than nomadic lifestyle is leaving our children and adults doing no exercise at all and with a diet based on pre-prepared foods with no to little energy potential but lots of fat and sugar. This problem, one would think would be easily solved by a change of attitude, habits and mind. But now, in cme the big pharmaceutical companies to actually, (with a lot of fake science behind them) declare obesity a disease. This doesnt sound so bad at first, but if you think about it, it’s much easier to think “oh ok, i have something that a pill can solve” and that is definitely the wrong, passive and actionless attitude that someone can have facing this problem.
A very interesting and disturbing read.
